Reflections on Malaysia 2025

Malaysia sits at the crossroads of our SE Asia playground. After our wonderful visit last year we decided to return for a longer visit at our same Airbnb in Kuala Lumpur and a longer visit in the mid-sized town of Ipoh we discovered on our 2024 visit.

Rich took a solo getaway and was here May 2-9, 2025. Four one hour foot reflexology massages...great food... friendly people...fresh strawberries...three two hour massages and lots of walking!

On an early morning walk Rich came upon a joyful celebration of life for a local elder which stopped the traffic on their way to the community cemetery. The Balinese custom is to bury the body until the family collects enough money to later cremate their loved one. Sometimes several people are cremated together. Another ceremony will take place and the ashes are placed in the river for the cycle of life to continue. This may take a few months or years to complete. The belief is that they reicarnate and return into the same family lineage.
